Baby girl

I finally got to this last night. Yes, I've made one like this before, but it got such a great response, I've made another one.... I finished this late last night and am taking it out of town with me today. I have supplies for another one, so email me if you would like to give one to a baby girl!

Baby stuff

So, I finished making a partially completed blanket into these hats last week and took them to the hospital. Here's 7 more that made a total of 10 hats. I was pretty excited since this yarn almost got trashed and now it will keep 10 little heads warm! And, since my friend now knows she's having a boy, I was able to make her a sex-specific gift. It was a great day to make a snuggly flannel blanket since the high today was 68 degrees.....seriously, 68 degrees on July 4th!
Tomorrow, I am hoping to be able to make a baby girl gift, but unfortunately already have some other things on the agenda.

When all else fails....

Crochet baby hats! Most of my stuff is packed and work has been too busy anyway for much creative fun, but I did keep this partially made blanket with the intent of reusing the yarn. I don't know if I ran out of yarn, or what exactly happened with the original production, but it almost got tossed during consolidation efforts. So, making good on my promise, I made these little hats while watching some crazy movie. I will probably try to use the rest of the blanket and then take the whole batch to the hospital next week, unless someone wants one...or a different one, in which case, email me!
I did get these crayon rolls done a week or so ago for my friend's babysitter. I didn't know how many she wanted or needed, but started her out with these after she took a liking to one my friend had.

The first of its kind!

I am so grateful to have great cousins, aunts and uncles. Though they are all very good to me, one of my aunts is so good to me in that she always lets me know she's my biggest fan. She thinks everything I do is really great. She loves when I bake for her and even orders cookies for various holidays to take places and gives me all of the credit. (I do give her permission to claim them as her own because they are clearly homemade baked goods, but I think she likes to give me credit and make a big deal over what I do.) What's even more endearing is that she has daughters to whom I know she is a great mom and to their credit, they are wonderul daughters. What I mean is, it's not like she doesn't have a daughter or that she has a daughter she is not close to, so I fill a void. To cut to the chase, I made this nautical wristlet for her. They spend a ton of time at the lake, at their cottage, in Florida when they can, so I am really hoping that she thinks this looks like her as much as I do! It's the first of its kind because it has a contrasting bottom AND it's got dimension. Now, I have to make an extra special cake for my uncle since his birthday is coming and she's getting a gift!

They'll do for now....

I made these new throw pillows for the couch. I couldn't stand the other accent pillows that we had anymore. They were smooshed, worn, and in a word, DONE! So, since it's trash day tomorrow, and since I had the pillow forms waiting to be covered, I used what I had on hand, extra curtain fabric actually, and whipped these up! And, if they ever get in the way on the couch, they go with this chair too!Unfortunately, now I have to play catch up, but at least I got these and a bunch of other things out of the way today!

Needing a plan

I am good with the length of this blanket. It's 36.5". What I am unsure about though is how wide to make it, well, how much wider to make it. It's about 24" wide right now which is not wide enough. I have to start a new skein of yarn, which I have, which is good, but I think that even after completing this blanket, I will have barely made a dent in that skein. So, I guess I could make a bunch of white fuzzy hats, or I could get another skein of this and make another blanket with basically these same dimensions. I do know quite a few expectant mothers right now, most of whom do not know the sex of their baby, so white works. I know, how exciting......NOT!

Just call it Reege

Remember when Regis Philbin's signature look was the monochromatic suit?Well, I just realized that one of my bathrooms has that look. In this photo it does anyway. There's more to it, of course: white tile, a couple of sinks, a toilet, mirror......but here, it just looks blue. It's upstairs and has gotten used about 5 times in 7 years, so not sure how much it matters anyway, but I guess now it's better than the not quite wide enough curtain that was hanging here. It was cute, had a pattern, and COLORS, but now, it's just blue. If it was hemmed, I guess I'd be more in love with it. I'm just not looking forward to unhooking all of those stupid hooks again and then rehooking them since it's already been done several times during the construction process. The hard part, making this without my machine attachments(!), is at least over. 21 janky button holes, without the special attachment. Probably won't be doing this again anytime soon.
